Commercial illustration is used most often to render a product or process that explains a detailed procedure. A commercial illustration may be either computer generated or rendered by hand but ultimately will end up as an component in a design project directed to the target audience to convey infomation.

Common uses for commercial illustration can be found on packaging, magazine, editorial, instructional or promotional collateral, and a whole host of medium both printed and digital animation.
